Secrets of the Catalogue
Eight years ago, Emerson’s mother, Iris Blackwell, died the night their small cottage in Maine burned down. Emerson’s father lost his mind after her mother’s death. Unable to face her new reality, Emerson booked a one-way train to NYC. She spent years trying to forget the trauma of her past, but it all comes rushing back when Emerson discovers a hidden library on a street tucked away in Manhattan. The wizened Librarian, Ezekiel Glasberg, allows her to check out a book called The Central Library. When she opens it, she discovers that the books from this library are not ordinary reading material. This library’s catalogue allows its readers to physically enter the books they select. Inside the book, Emerson encounters Iris Blackwell and learns that her mother didn’t die that night after all. Iris and Emerson are members of a small group of individuals called the Librarians who have the ability to enter the worlds within books. The books Librarians travel within are published by the Central Library, which has been pursuing Iris Blackwell for spreading banned works. Books banned by the Central Library are dangerous, and the Librarians who delve within their pages are never the same. Iris Blackwell has established a rival organization called the Foundation. The Foundation’s Librarians have split from the Central Library. They contend that the banned books are not dangerous and that the Central Library is engaging in censorship. Emerson finds herself thrown into an adventure where the books she reads often become too real for comfort and she’s forced to confront her tragic past. Along the way, she rekindles a romance with Silas Rathbone, her first love who returns to reveal he is a member of the Foundation. However, Emerson finds herself being drawn toward the Adrien, the son of the Central Library’s Head Librarian, Atalanthya Moon. It’s up to Emerson to determine whether Iris Blackwell is a villain pushing dangerous books into the Catalogue, or whether the Central Library has something to hide.Secrets of the Catalogue is an epic tale of adventure, love, and the clash between fiction and truth.
