El camino a Rainy Mountain es la gran obra literaria sobre la vida de los indios kiowas norteamericanos.Esta obra maravillosa trata del viaje de los antepasados kiowas de N. Scott Momaday desde sus antiguos comienzos en el área de Montana hasta su rendición ante una compañía de soldados en el fuerte Sill, y el posterior reasentamiento cerca de Rainy Mountain, Oklahoma. La obra recuerda el viaje de Tai-me, el ídolo sagrado de la danza del sol, y de la gente de Tai-me en tres voces únicas: la legendaria, la histórica y la contemporánea. También es el viaje personal de Momaday, quien en una peregrinación a la tumba de su abuela realizó la misma ruta que sus antepasados y al hacerlo se enfrentó a su herencia kiowa. Publicada en 1969, este hermosísimo libro del premio Pulitzer N. Scott Momaday es la evocación de un paisaje incomparable, y nos adentra en los mitos, leyendas e historia de la cultura kiowa.
