Saga de Egil Skallagrimsson
La Saga de Egil Skallagrimsson es una de las principales sagas islandesas, por su extensión y calidad. Probablemente fue escrita hacia el año 1230 por el literario y político islandés Snorri Sturlussson, autor asimismo de la Edda, un manual para poetas con interesantísima información sobre la antigua mitología escandinava y de la Heimskringla, amplia historia de los reyes de Noruega desde los orígenes míticos hasta casi sus propios días.El libro narra las aventuras de Egil como vikingo y también como visitante en las cortes de Noruega e Inglaterra. Egil es el único protagonista de la saga, al contrario de lo que acontece en las demás sagas. Vivió en Islandia en el siglo X y fue uno de los más famosos poetas. Se le describe como avaricioso y asesino desde su infancia, pero también amante de los suyos y capaz de los sentimientos más nobles, y poeta ya desde los tres años.
