La saga de Kormak
Al hablar de Sagas, es preciso situar a Snorri Sturluson como máximo responsable de su difusión. Snorri vivió en el siglo XIII, momento en que empiezan a redactarse las Sagas. Fue el autor de dos obras capitales para la comprensión del mundo nórdico, Heimskringla, una crónica de los reyes noruegos desde los orígenes hasta el siglo XIII y los Eddas. La labor de Snorri fue similar a la realizada por el autor (o autores) anónimo de La Saga de Kormak, es decir recoger unos poemas dispersos y tras agruparlos adecuadamente darles una forma comprensible. La estructura de La Saga de Kormak conjuga un núcleo central, ochenta y cinco estrofas, y un texto en prosa que intenta explicar los acontecimientos que narran los versos. El texto en prosa es obra de un autor (o autores) del siglo XIII, mientras que las 85 estrofas son contemporáneas a los hechos y época que describe la obra. La Saga de Kormak aparece a los ojos de los estudiosos como un claro precedente del Tristán e Isolda, precedente que envejece la estructura de la narración en dos siglos aproximadamente.
